Building Patios
Building a patio is a very easy process to adding
beauty to your landscape plans. When deciding on
what style of patio you want consider the overall color scheme that would best suit the area the patio
will be located, bricks or stones come in different colors and shapes. Visit your local lawn and garden
center to see the different styles and colors. After choosing your style then layout the size and shape
of the patio drive stakes in the corners and run a string line around the stakes once you are happy with your design dig out the area @ 3 to 4 inches deeper than your bricks then level all the ground this is done easy by running the string line across
the dug out area in different directions using a tape measure to get all areas level next build a 2x4 frame around the outside of the dug out area and drive stakes on the back side of the 2x4 frame and attach to frame with screws next bring in sand fill the dug out area and level the sand the same way as the ground once you have the sand filled in then  lay a brick in the area to check ground height  next pack the sand down with a tamper compacting the sand is very important once you have the sand backed and the brick is level with the ground you can now install the bricks, place the bricks like the photo above off setting the directions this gives the strength required allow @ 1/4 inch between the bricks. Now take the compactor and tamp the bricks so that they are all level then add sand to the patio area with a shovel and broom sweeping the sand into all the cracks keep tamping the bricks so that the sand works into the cracks sweep off the excess and your finished.
