Ponds and Waterfalls
Building a pond and waterfall is very easy figure out
were you want to build the pond lay out the design and stake it off run a string line around the stakes. After you are sure this is the design you want dig out the area the depth you are wanting usually this is easiest by renting a mini backhoe from your local equipment rental center be sure and dig one area deeper for your water pump and allow enough depth so the water will run down. Ok now fill the bottom area and side walls with sand packing it @ 3 to 4 inches the sand will protect the pond liner install the liner in the hole being sure you have @ 2 to 3 feet overhang with the liner laying in the hole. Pond liners are available at most lawn and garden centers be sure and use a thick ply liner, next lay out flat rocks around the pond on top of the overhang you left earlier install your water pump to the lowest area of the pond and hook up the piping using PVC pipe to the area you want the water to travel to normally to a waterfall then add small pea gravel to bottom of the pond covering the pump suction intake and PVC piping lay river rocks in the pond to get the appearance you are wanting. Now take the dirt you dug out and build a platform for the waterfall area to the height you are wanting lay down pond liner covering the area overlapping the existing linear at the pond area cover all the area with rocks to archive the look your wanting add water and pond plants or fish and enjoy your your new pond.
